Neck Injuries

Neck Injuries

Fitness exercises help all the muscles in our bodywork, become stronger and stronger than before.
In this way, we will be more resistant to injuries that may occur.
As well as the benefit of this empowerment study, when it is done unconsciously, there is also a drawback.
In this article, we will learn how neck injuries occur, how to protect and how to strengthen neck muscles.

WHAT IS THE NECK INJURY / INJURY?

  1. Neck pains and injuries generally occur in 3 types.
  2. Neck aches due to muscles (muscle spasm).
  3. Neck pains due to nerve stem cells in the neck. (Compression of nerve stem cells)
Injuries due to sudden neck movements.

Let’s learn the precautions to be taken by starting with the first article and dealing with neck injuries, respectively.

NECK DISABILITIES DUE TO MUSCLES / MUSCLE SPASM.

Neck pain due to unilateral or bilateral muscle spasm (muscle tension) is common and settles in a specific area.
Neck pain occurs after sleeping in an unfavorable position, working at a computer for a long time, doing desk work for a long time, and staying in positions that force the neck muscles for a long time.
Neck pain, which is continuous and occurs in the style of burning, occurs as a result of muscle tension caused by stress and excessive fatigue.
Muscle spasm (muscle tension) can be felt and painful when touched.
If there is excessive tension, the person does not want to exercise the muscle group on that side, and the posture of the neck deteriorates until the muscle spasm (muscle tension) passes.
The pain that we mentioned as the Shoulder Junction is a pain characterized by the involvement of the muscles on the bone, which is defined as the scapula, and the muscles in the back of the neck.
This pain radiates to the back of the head and often accompanies headaches.
Pain in the head radiates just above the head, on the sides and towards the eyes.
Pain is defined as if a head is applied to the head or a part of the head is tightened with a belt.
Patients are given short-term pain relief and muscle relaxant therapy.
Physiotherapy can help resolve spasm and reduce pain. The patient is trained for relaxation techniques, neck exercises and proper sitting.
If the problem is business and work-related, necessary arrangements are made in the workplace and an environment where it can work more comfortably provides the person to protect against future neck pain.

NECK DISABILITIES DUE TO NERVE ROOT CELLS IN THE NECK

It develops as a result of the vertebrae on the neck pressing on the nerves coming out of it or pressing the nerve root of the newly formed osteophyte bone tissues.
If pain caused by compression of the spine, this pain is often felt as an additional side.
Electric shock, needling, numbness, weakness are felt down the arm.
Pains due to compression of the nerve compression of new bone tissues called osteophytes are generally seen in the elderly and give the same symptoms of spinal compression but their development is much slower.
Which type of nerve compression is understood by MR (magnetic resonance).
Supporting the neck structure, neck collar, rest and pain reliever are used.
The patient is especially informed about not carrying heavy loads. If the pains and complaints are mild, the patient shows a marked improvement after 6-12 weeks. If the pain repeats (relapse, relapses) and findings such as weakness numbness are severe, the patient is given to surgery (neuro brochure). If the findings are very severe and bilateral, it requires emergency nerve surgery.

INJURIES DUE TO IMMEDIATE NECK MOVEMENTS

The whip movement damage occurs as a result of the movement of the neck like a whip back and forth.
Often in a traffic accident, a driver’s seatbelt is caused by another vehicle crashing from behind.
The magnitude of the damage is proportional to the magnitude of the violence applied at the time of impact.
Injury due to sudden neck movement is one of the common causes of recurrent (chronic) neck pain. The pain is felt in the neck, shoulder, and arm.
Sometimes there may be headaches and dizziness. People with this pain can crash the vehicle, which is guilty, to the compensation case.
The amount of compensation he receives depends on the course of the disease (prognosis).
Calming, pain relief treatment and short-term neck collar are applied. Muscle spasm and pain can be reduced by applying physiotherapy.
The complete relief of pain can range from 4 weeks to months. The patient must be warned about this.

MEASURES TO BE TAKEN IN OUR FITNESS WORKOUTS

Never, ever, ever change the position of your neck when you go into heavy loads. For example, if you make the mistake of turning your head left and right after cutting the weight from the ground in a deadlift, you can be sure that you will pay the price for a long time. I warn you that it happened to me personally.
While doing push-ups, your neck should not be sagging towards the ground, but in a parallel position with the body.
Flat presses and incline presses do not spoil the parallelism of your neck to your body. The most mistake we make is to check the accuracy of the movement we apply by looking in the mirror. Doing so may cause injuries in heavy loads.
In summary, when we keep our neck parallel to our body in all movements, we are maximally protected from injuries.
